Donald Trump asked America to vote like he was on the ballot. And we did!
It was quickly apparent as ballot results started flowing in last night that voters decided they were tired of the damage incurred by Trump and his Republican conspirators. For posterity, here are some of their largest concerns in no particular order:
- His Tariffs through various legal and illegal means that have led to skyrocketing inflation.
- ICE and their hamfisted efforts to deport immigrants that incited them to murder innocent civilians and have led to the families and communities of legal citizens to be torn apart.
- The One Big "Ugly" Bill that gave large tax cuts to the 1% by removing subsidies for essential services like Healthcare (especially in Rural areas.)
- His "Military Conflict" in Iran (he never even bothered to ask Congress for an official declaration of War so we can't call it that) which has caused the cost of Oil to skyrocket futher accelerating inflation.
- His "hands off" approch on AI (or Super Intelligence as he prefers to call it) that has many experts concerned about potentially losing control of the technology due to lack of any legal guardrails.
What happens next?
Beyond the myriad of legal challenges to the results that the Republicans will inevitably begin filing, I hope that we may soon see positive legislation that can reverse the course on some of these issues.
Hakeem Jeffries, current House Minority Leader and likely Speaker of the House when the new congress is seated in January has previously announced his 100 day plan. The first priority would be reversing the cuts to the Affordable Care Act and Medicare, in addition to efforts to curb the inflation affecting food and gas prices.
Additionally, many World Leaders have already expressed their support of this pushback against Trump and his policies. Many of these leaders are saying that they are hopeful that this may allow for a reversal of the conflicts in the middle east and Ukraine.
Of course, Trump has already threatened liberal use of his Veto power to slow down these efforts so he can continue his grift of selling favors and political leverage to further enrich himself.
Since his re-election in 2024, Trump's reported net worth has practically doubled according to Forbes. This does not include the estimated value of the Luxury Jet donated by Qatar that Trump is spending our tax dollars on to convert into a temporary Air Force One, nor any of the other "donations" that will be used for his forthcoming Presidential Library after his final term.
